Meet Sarah

We’ve all come to Open Eye from diverse backgrounds. What are some of your career or personal highlights to date?

Sarah: A career highlight was smoothly making the transition to nonprofit consulting in 2019. I enjoy being able to offer an outside perspective to organizations and help them achieve sustainability. A personal highlight is bringing two children into this world. Being a mom is the most challenging job I’ve had, but also extremely rewarding.

Outside feedback is enormously important for businesses. What’s some feedback that you’ve received personally that helped you grow?

Sarah: The best feedback I’ve received is to be authentic. Being true and authentic allows you to build trust and competency with your co-workers and clients that you simply cannot achieve by trying to be someone you’re not.

We all try to bring a lot to the table at Open Eye. What’s your superpower?

Sarah: Being a visionary with a healthy dose of realism. I enjoy finding the balance between dreaming up the next big idea, then if needed, scaling it back so it’s truly sustainable and achievable.

We’re fond of the saying, “If you can not measure it, you can not improve it.” What’s one thing you think an organization should immediately start measuring that they likely aren’t?

Sarah: Tracking relationships. Not only donor tracking, but other individuals that your organization is in contact with, such as partners, volunteers and community groups. Relationship building is one of the most important things for a nonprofit organization and having the systems in place for tracking those relationships is key.

What do you love doing in your spare time?

Sarah: When I’m not working or spending time with my family, you can find me bowling, golfing or on a patio for happy hour.
